We are looking for a Scrum Master who will be responsible for enabling our engineering teams so that they can focus on building our highly available products. The Scrum Master works closely with Jetty’s Product Managers and Engineering Managers to create lightweight processes to build high quality products for our customers.

What you will do:
- Guide the team on software development principles and values to enable a self-organized team
- Know when to lean into Agile methodologies and know when to adapt them to Jetty’s culture by valuing people over process
- Work with Product Managers and Engineering Managers to refine and maintain the team’s backlogs
- Build a safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame or retribution, with an emphasis on problem solving
- Facilitate discussions and ceremonies to enable collective planning (e.g. sprint planning, backlog grooming), conflict resolution (e.g. retros, blockers), and inclusive decision making (e.g. sizing, delivery commitments)
- Assess the Agile maturity of the team and coach them at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable
- Train the team to think multiple sprints ahead with increasing predictability
- Leverage metrics as a nonpunitive guide
- Maintain and improve transparency of information within the engineering team and communication to external stakeholders
- Help to identify and eliminate impediments for the team
The experiences you will bring:
- At least 2 years of professional scrum master or software project management experience
- Experience with knowledge management issue and tracking systems (i.e. JIRA, Shortcut, etc)
- Professional SDLC experience with the willingness to recommend and adopt new processes as necessary
- Experience with engineering concepts (requirements, backlogs, testing, CI/CD, etc)
- Familiarity with AWS cloud technologies is a plus
- Professional certifications are a plus
- Experience working in Fintech, Insurance, or similar financial services companies is a plus

- Willing to mentor on the software development process and to provide feedback with empathy and understanding
- Self-directed with a passion for delivering excellent software
- Ability to create innovative solutions in a fast-paced, collaborative, and supportive environment
- Understands the need to collaborate effectively in writing and in person, create and document processes, and to assist in delivering effective process to our engineering teams so that they can stay on a schedule
- Has an opinion on how our processes should work so we can build systems for scale and will advocate for that position, but once a decision is made will commit to making the project successful
- Enthusiasm, curiosity, and the flexibility to thrive in a start-up atmosphere of constant change and growth with a healthy dose of humor
