Production Lead
Jewett Cameron Seed is looking for our next Production Lead to join our exciting and growing team.
In this role you will assist the General Manager by providing assistance to the receipt, personnel, equipment, and cleaning of seed and all daily operations.
A successful candidate will be open minded, a desire for continuous improvement, and an interest for agriculture.
Founded in Oregon in 2000, Jewett Cameron Seed is a full-scale operation from receiving seed from the local farms to shipping seed across the globe. We use pioneering, old-school values with a new school processing technique.
Responsibilities in this role
- Monitoring production numbers on a routine basis to ensure each line in on track with targeted rates.
- Perform daily check in’s with management to ensure operations are on track.
- Coordinating with line workers to meet expected deadlines.
- Provide assistance to any production line and/or task to meet necessary deadlines or set expectations.
- Monitor production supplies and provide adequate notification when supplies are needed.
- Verify seed quality to ensure that seed lots meet or exceed industry standards.
- Ensuring the accuracy of each seed lot before its completion, i.e. lot numbers, varieties, inventory counts.
- Participate in and ensure that inventory counts are correct and product is in the correct locations.
- Assist in training/cross training of all line workers.
- Monitor all activities to identify and develop and/or implement quality procedures.
Ideal candidate requirements/qualifications
- Customer service skills, including proactive problem solving.
- Ability to effectively communicate with upper level management, as well as vendors on any issues which may arise.
- Willingness, ability, and flexibility to work independently and as a team.
- A mechanical aptitude.
- Discretion and good judgment.
- High school diploma required.
- Certificate program from a college or technical school preferred.
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
Physical requirements
- Must be able to lift 50 lb. poly sacks.
- Ability to work around seasonal allergies and pollens.
- Must possess the skills and ability to work independently and as a team.
- Frequent interruptions may be encountered throughout the work day.
- Must be open minded and possess the willingness to be trained.
- Must be fluent in reading, writing, and understanding English.
