Maintenance Technician

The Maintenance Mechanic installs, repairs, fabricates and maintains production equipment, buildings and other infrastructure needed to manufacture quality PVC and PE pipe.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Install, set-up and maintain equipment as directed;
• Read schematics, renderings and drawings to fabricate, install or repair various tooling, equipment and infrastructure;
• Operate drills, mills, lathes and other power tools;
• Operate arc/gas welding and cutting equipment;
• Use various hand-tools of the mechanical and electrical trades;
• Operate hoisting/crane equipment;
• Operate industrial trucks such as forklifts and manlifts;
• Assist with troubleshooting equipment malfunction and emergency repairs;
• Determine when mechanical parts are repaired or replaced;
• Use safe work practices regarding LO/TO, Hot-Work Permit, PPE, HazCom, Electrical, etc;
• Possess the necessary tools of the trade;
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalent;
Able to read and interpret mechanical/electrical drawings and schematics;
Prefer Industrial Maintenance Diploma/Degree from a technical college;
Prefer 5 years of experience in maintenance repairs/fabrication or a combination of experience/education.

COMPUTER SKILLS
Basic computer skills may be required;
Prefer knowledge of PM/Asset Management Software.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Proficient English language skills to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, write routine reports and correspondence, and communicate effectively with vendors, contractors and employees of the organization,

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in changing situations. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form.

Ability to verbally communicate either face to face or via telephone with other fellow employees to accomplish all assigned job functions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside conditions, extreme cold and heat. Employee is frequently exposed to fumes, airborne particles vibration and loud noise.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.50 - $27.50 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
