Our JM Goldson team has a renowned approach for facilitating interactive and inclusive public engagement and a strong track record promoting equitable and sustainable land use policies in communities of many sizes and types in Massachusetts and New England.

In this position, you will work with our project leaders and muti-disciplinary teams on a range of projects. You will apply your expertise in urban design and quantitative analysis, including GIS analysis, to help shape projects such as local comprehensive plans, housing plans, and zoning studies (including innovative Massachusetts transit-oriented multi-family zoning).

You will perform the following types of tasks (among others):

  • Lead 3D model creation and renderings for urban design and architectural visualization
  • Lead urban analysis for urban design and planning projects
  • Lead computational analyses for urban design
  • Lead and/or supports preparation and management of design documentation
  • Leads and/or supports creation of presentation materials for public and client meetings
  • Supports final document content and layout for reports and project materials
  • Supports project meetings and workshops, including community engagement preparation and facilitation
  • Interact with project team members, clients, and subconsultants as needed
  • Other tasks to support project delivery that may be needed

Overall, you will work closely and collaboratively with the JM Goldson team to generate equitable, creative, sustainable solutions for our client communities.

The position is a full-time, benefited position with a salary range of $70,000-$95,000 plus, four weeks paid time off plus 11 federal holidays, a quarterly bonus system with added compensation up to 10 percent of salary based on key performance indicators, 100% single-person health care coverage, employer-matched 401K retirement savings plan, 100% coverage of public transportation commuting costs, and tuition reimbursement program.

The position includes a flexible hybrid schedule to work remotely up to three days per week with two days in our Roslindale office (currently on Monday and Thursday, with some exceptions). We provide for flextime of 80 hours over a two-week pay period. Ideal start timeframe: March-May 2024.

Minimum qualifications include a master degree in community or urban planning, or a related field that combines urban and physical planning. This position is open to entry-level and mid-level professionals with demonstrated mastery of GIS mapping and 3-D modeling, InDesign, and Illustrator; research, analysis, and writing; excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to work effectively on a team, being self-directed and resourceful, and ability to work and present yourself professionally. The ability to attend evening meetings is required and a valid driver’s license is preferred but not required. Knowledge of R-Studio Tidyverse packages, the American Community Survey, and the US Census would be desirable.
