We are currently seeking an Engineering Manager to join our Pittsburgh office.

Role and Responsibilities

Maintains a high level of technical competence

Ensures the successful execution of engineering services on assigned projects

Ensures the technical integrity of the team members, with a goal of zero changes after Revision Zero is issued

Maintains excellent working relationships at all levels

Ensures information and communication flow is effective and in keeping with established processes

Establishes communication protocol and processes

Establishes project meetings schedule and frequency, distributes documentation within established timelines

Creates monthly written progress reports; presents to Executive Management

Creates and distributes at least monthly a project labour report

Reviews internal and client documents in relation to: proposals, purchase orders, scheduling, scope of work, and all other relevant materials

Ensures the Project Manager, or project owner, is committed to milestone dates, approval criteria, schedules, engineering standards, client supplied timelines and processes

Establishes milestone dates at minimum for: design brief items, drawing revision dates, and specifications

Establishes required document lists; submits to clients, or others, as required for approval

Maintains a status log for all scope changes

Establishes written procedural guidelines for project scope changes in relation to engineering work; communicates to relevant stakeholders as required

Reviews all drawings, specifications and any other related document prior to submittal to the client

Develops the engineering schedule and project labour resource requirements in cooperation with Division Managers

Reviews and develops a project spend plan as it relates to project execution, schedule, cash flow etc

Prepares, submits and obtains approval for all progress drawings on cooperation with the Project Manager; reviews prior to submission to client

Facilitates a post-project review discussion to evaluate success and/or opportunities for improvements; creates and presents a post-project report to Executive Management

Completes, in cooperation with the Project Manager, any required client project evaluation processes or forms

Ensures the Project Manager, or project owner, is committed to specifications in relation to general arrangements, flow sheets and design briefs

Understands and assigns scope of work to project team members

Defines and selects the engineering team members for each project; done in conjunction with the Project Manager and any other relevant stakeholders as required

Leverages the core knowledge, skills and abilities of the team members in order to support the project and the on going company operations

Actively engages in the promotion of the company

Actively engages in creation of new business opportunities

Qualifications and Education Requirements

P.E required

10 engineering years’ experience required

At least 5 years previous managerial experience in a related field required

Basic knowledge of CAD technology

Understanding of engineering and construction principles required

Ability to make complex decisions in an effective and efficient manner

Ability to successfully manage multiple projects

Ability to effectively coordinate and manage resources

Ability to summarize data onto clear Executive Reports
