Job Summary

Reports to the Career Transition Services (CTS) Director. Responsible for planning and directing the center School to Career/Work Based Learning program. Demonstrates on-going commitment to preparing young people for the workforce by modeling, mentoring and monitoring excellence in the eight Career Success Standards of: workplace relations and ethics; information management; communications; multicultural awareness; personal growth and development; career and personal planning; interpersonal skills and independent living.

Responsibilities and Duties

1. Demonstrates and abides by ODLE Core Values and operating principles.
2. Works with Center staff, employers, organized labor, the Western PA area, and the community to establish positive Work-Based Learning sites.                                                                                                                            3.  Plans and coordinates activities to bring together the appropriate persons, including employers, educators, trainees and center staff to ensure the success of the School-to- Career/Work-based Learning program.
4. Generates work site opportunities that best match the training capabilities and needs of trainees with employers’ requirement.
5. Escorts potential employers on center tours; serves as guest speaker on and off center to promote the School to Career program.
6. Serves as liaison between the center and various work sites.
7. Serves as liaison with the Career Development departments in monitoring the coordination of center academic and vocational training and work site learning.
8. Schedules and transports trainees to work sites.
9. Visits work sites to monitor trainee progress.
10. Counsels trainees on their evaluations.
11. Serves as substitute teacher to allow the CTT instructors to visit work sites periodically.
12. Submits all required reports.
13. Attends required staff training sessions.
14. Clearly communicates and consistently models appropriate CSS and employability skills including personal responsibility and computer fluency.
15. Maintains accountability of staff, students, and property, adheres to safety practices in all areas of responsibility.
16. Cultivates and maintains a climate on center that is free of harassment, intimidation and disrespect to provide a safe place for staff and students to work and learn.
17. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Vocational Education or related field.
  • One year’s work related experience.
  • Valid State driver’s license in the state of employment with acceptable driving record.
