We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Corporate Controller to join our team in the Engineering industry. The successful candidate will play a critical role in strategic decision making and operations as they relate to the overall financial management of the company. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional who thrives in a busy work place, and is well-versed in working closely with senior management.
Responsibilities:
1. Assist the Corporate Controller in all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as the development of internal control policies and procedures.
2. Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives.
3. Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
4. Coordinate the preparation of the corporate annual report and liaise with our external auditors for the annual audit.
5. Monitor and confirm financial condition by conducting audits and providing information to external auditors.
6. Protect assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
7. Prepare budgets by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; recommending plans.
8. Achieve budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
9. Provide status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.
10. Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing financial reports, and advising management on needed actions.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or equivalent qualification is required.
2. Proven experience of at least 3 years as an Assistant Controller or other similar role.
3. Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures, including experience with creating financial statements and general ledger functions.
4. Excellent accounting software user and administration skills, with proficiency in Oracle and other financial reporting databases.
5. Strong experience in cost accounting and managing financial closure and reporting processes.
6. Solid communication, technology, analytical and management skills.
7. Knowledge of all aspects of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
8. Strong experience with financial and accounting reporting systems.
9. Outstanding leadership, organizational and time management skills.
10. Must have a strong understanding of, and ability to adhere to, legal and compliance practices related to accounting and financial management.
