Job Details
The Assistant Superintendent supports the lead Project Superintendent by managing designated field activities associated with the project and supervising field construction work by subcontractors and employees. They contribute to the planning, organization, direction, and control of the building aspects of each project to meet budget, quality, time, and safety objectives.
Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance with Safety Programs.
Assist the project team to formulate the project schedule, ensuring proper methods and sequence of installation are followed. Ensure subcontractors understand job schedules and make every effort to meet them.
Review manpower requirements relative to meeting current job progress schedules and follow up for timely delivery of materials to meet established schedules.
Ensure complete and accurate daily documentation of work orders/tickets, understand subcontractor scope of work to avoid unnecessary change orders, identify problems early, and act immediately to provide solutions.
Make arrangements for temporary facilities/utilities for the site, and identify long lead items that need to be expedited.
Monitor the work to assure good quality control and to make sure that work conforms to all plans and specifications as outlined by the lead superintendent.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or experience.
2-5 years of commercial construction experience, including experience with a commercial general contractor.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and understand specifications.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with a focus on audience.
Solid judgment and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail.
