Job Details
Responsibilities:
1. Litigation Strategy: Develop and implement effective litigation strategies for complex toxic tort cases, ensuring the best possible outcome for our clients. Conduct thorough research and analysis of relevant laws, regulations, and precedents to build a strong defense.
2. Case Management: Manage a diverse caseload of civil defense matters, including toxic tort litigation, from inception to resolution. This includes drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery requests, as well as conducting depositions, negotiations, and trials.
3. Client Advocacy: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing expert legal advice and guidance throughout the litigation process. Advocate vigorously on behalf of clients, ensuring their interests are protected and their rights are upheld.
4. Expert Witness Coordination: Collaborate with expert witnesses, including toxicologists, environmental scientists, and medical professionals, to build a strong defense. Effectively communicate complex scientific and technical concepts to judges, juries, and opposing counsel.
5. Legal Research: Conduct comprehensive legal research on toxic tort litigation, civil defense strategies, and relevant case law. Stay up-to-date with industry trends, legislative changes, and emerging issues to provide cutting-edge legal advice.
6. Trial Preparation: Prepare meticulously for trials, including developing trial strategies, preparing witnesses, and organizing exhibits and evidence. Present compelling arguments and cross-examine witnesses to dismantle opposing counsel's case.
7. Team Collaboration: Collaborate closely with colleagues, paralegals, and support staff to ensure seamless workflow and efficient case management. Mentor and train junior attorneys, sharing your expertise and contributing to their professional growth.
Qualifications:
1. Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school, with an excellent academic record.
2. Admitted to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction, with a valid license in good standing.
3. Minimum of 3 years of experience in toxic tort litigation and civil defense, with a proven track record of successful outcomes.
4. Strong knowledge of toxic tort laws, regulations, and industry standards, with a deep understanding of the scientific and technical aspects involved.
5. Exceptional analytical and research skills, with the ability to quickly grasp complex legal and scientific concepts.
6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex arguments persuasively.
7. Strong negotiation and advocacy skills, with a keen attention to detail.
8. Ability to manage a heavy caseload and work under pressure, meeting deadlines without compromising quality.
9. Proactive and self-motivated, with a strong work ethic and a passion for justice.
10. Collaborative team player, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
