Key Responsibilities:
Work closely with the Art Director and Creative Leadership to establish and maintain the artistic vision of the game.
Drive the development of Art Style Guides and Process Guides to ensure consistency across all artwork.
Produce high-quality concept art that meets the established standards and guidelines, covering characters, environments, props, and other relevant areas.
Communicate and evangelize the visual style of the game to the team, ensuring a clear understanding of the vision and directions.
Create key art illustrations for use in marketing and promotional materials that align with the game's artistic direction.
Participate in the overall planning and scope of the concept needs for projects.
Ensure the quality of the concept team's work is at a high standard and set the bar for excellence.
Lead and support a team of concept artists, providing guidance, feedback, education, performance feedback, coaching, and mentoring to ensure they produce their best work.
What success looks like:
Establish benchmarks for quality assets across all style guides, creative briefs, concept design, key art, illustration, and experiments that align with the overall art direction.
Create a visual style that is unique but appeals to a broad audience.
Lead by example, ensuring the team feels informed, challenged, and supported to do their best work.
Develop an efficient and scalable concept art pipeline that provides a foundation for future games shaped by constructive feedback and implemented solutions.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise:
Strong proficiency in art fundamentals, design principles, anatomy, and color theory.
High level of creativity and problem-solving skills with an ability to adapt game design considerations into artwork.
A strong portfolio showcasing a range of styles that leans heavily towards stylized work.
Commitment to the project and a desire to inspire others to achieve the best possible outcome.
Ability to communicate your creative vision, process, decisions, and rationale to team members and cross-functional stakeholders in a way that inspires and motivates.
Enthusiasm for directing, mentoring, and elevating team members to produce their best work.
