RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise nursing services to designated Health center residents according to professionally recognized nursing practices.
- Deliver nursing care that complies with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Participate in the development of resident care plans; assist with resident admissions; modify care plans to reflect current health status of residents; properly utilize resident care plans and supervise use by unit nursing staff.
- Supervise delivery of nursing care on assigned shift and assigned unit(s); monitor work of nursing staff to ensure that all prescribed medications and treatments are administered and documented.
- Provide direct resident care; responsible for documentation and charting; ensure proper Medicare documentation as required.
- Ensure adequate shift staffing to maintain continuity of resident care; inform supervisor of scheduling or staffing problems.
- Assist with coordination of Health Center services that involve hands-on care to residents, i.e., nursing, food & beverage, therapies, activities, housekeeping, etc.
- Respond to all resident requests (call lights included) for assistance.
- Practice positive resident relations; respond to resident and family inquiries.
- Communicate about resident condition between and among nursing shifts as directed by nursing policies and procedures; exchange resident information with staff nurses and certified nurse assistants on an ongoing basis throughout assigned shift.
- Observe for significant change in resident condition, report to resident’s physician, and document immediately.
- Communicate and cooperate with members of inter-disciplinary health care team to accomplish resident goals established in care plans.
- Maintain and protect the confidentiality of resident information at all time.
- Assist with nursing staff development plans and in-services which fulfill mandatory requirements.
- Implement and practice infection control policies and procedures; ensure compliance by staff to universal precautions and all other infection control guidelines; inform Director, Health Services of any real or potential infection control concerns.
- Monitor all infectious disease processes, resident and staff, occurring in the Health Center.
- Practice all safety and loss prevention procedures; monitors adherence to safety rules and regulations and takes remedial action when necessary.
- Assist supervisor with any other reasonable task, as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to effectively supervise a diverse employee work group.
- Ability to effectively communicate with residents, families, supervisor, Health center employees.
- Desire to work with the elderly.
- Must be able to work NOC Shift
