Responsibilities:
1. Patient Care:
- Provide excellent patient care during endoscopy procedures, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the process.
- Assess and monitor patients before, during, and after procedures, taking note of any changes in their condition and promptly reporting to the physician.
- Administer medications and anesthesia as required, following established protocols and guidelines.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans for each patient.
2. Procedure Assistance:
- Assist physicians during endoscopy procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are readily available.
- Prepare patients for procedures, explaining the process and addressing any concerns or questions they may have.
- Set up and maintain sterile fields, ensuring a clean and safe environment for procedures.
- Monitor and document patient vital signs, intravenous fluids, and medications during procedures.
- Operate and maintain endoscopy equipment, troubleshooting any issues that arise.
3. Documentation and Communication:
- Accurately document patient information, including medical history, medications, and vital signs, in electronic medical records.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team, providing updates and addressing any questions or concerns.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care and continuity.
4. Quality Assurance and Compliance:
- Adhere to all relevant policies, procedures, and guidelines, ensuring compliance with regulatory bodies and accreditation standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, following infection control protocols and ensuring proper disposal of hazardous materials.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, identifying areas for improvement and implementing appropriate measures.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in endoscopy nursing, attending workshops and conferences as required.
Qualifications:
- Valid RN license and registration
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as an endoscopy RN, PACU RN, or registered nurse (Preferably in the following settings: PACU, OR, IR, Cath Lab,
Med/Sug, ICU, Tele, ED)
- Excellent assessment and critical thinking skills, with the ability to quickly respond to changing patient conditions
- Proficient in administering conscious sedation and monitoring patients under anesthesia
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with the interdisciplinary team
- Detail-oriented with excellent documentation and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and participate in on-call rotations if required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
