Job Details

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Patent Paralegal to join our dynamic team in the scientific industry. As a Patent Paralegal, you will play a crucial role in supporting our intellectual property (IP) activities, ensuring our patents are protected and our innovation is secure. This is a permanent position that offers a competitive salary and benefits package.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive IP research to identify existing patents, trademarks, and copyrights that may impact our inventions and innovations.
• Prepare and file patent applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines.
• Manage and maintain the patent docketing system, tracking important deadlines, responses, and correspondence related to patent prosecution.
• Collaborate with attorneys and inventors to review and analyze patent claims, prior art, and other relevant documents to support patent prosecution efforts.
• Assist in the preparation of legal documents, including patent assignments, licensing agreements, and non-disclosure agreements.
• Conduct contract review and provide recommendations to ensure compliance with IP laws and regulations.
• Support corporate governance activities, including entity management and maintenance of corporate records.
• Stay up-to-date with changes in patent laws and regulations, providing guidance and training to internal stakeholders as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a scientific or technical field is preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Patent Paralegal or equivalent role in a scientific or technology-focused organization.
• Strong knowledge of patent laws and regulations, particularly in the United States.
• Proficiency in USPTO filings and procedures, including filing patent applications, responses, and maintenance fees.
• Experience with patent docketing systems and software, ensuring accurate and timely tracking of patent prosecution activities.
• Excellent research skills, with the ability to conduct comprehensive IP research using various databases and resources.
• Familiarity with contract review and corporate governance activities, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
• Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with attorneys, inventors, and other stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and proactively, demonstrating a high level of initiative and problem-solving skills.
