We are currently seeking a Senior Buyer to join our team. We specialize in creating adhesive bonded fastening to bear on the technical challenges of the marine, energy, and other industrial sectors. The ideal candidate will responsible for placing, tracking and expediting material, services, and equipment purchases for fastener manufacturing purposes. This is a senior level purchasing position that will work with established and potential new suppliers, leading strategic sourcing initiatives to identify and successfully qualify new suppliers. Thy will have daily interaction with the manufacturing department to ensure accurate, timely and quality delivery of materials, services, and equipment.

Job Details

Key Responsibilities:

• Efficiently procure quality raw materials in alignment with manufacturing schedules.
• Promptly and accurately acquire non-inventory items and outsourced services.
• Provide guidance to junior members of the purchasing team when needed.
• Lead strategic sourcing initiatives to expand supplier network, enhance negotiation power, and improve quality, delivery, and pricing.
• Identify and execute cost-saving measures through collaboration with Quality, Engineering, Finance, and Manufacturing.
• Enhance supplier relationships to boost communication, quality, delivery, and cost-effectiveness.
• Evaluate supplier proposals, ensuring compliance and presenting concise comparison summaries.
• Stay updated on market trends and technology, informing internal stakeholders accordingly.
• Share monthly supplier performance scorecards and maintain accurate vendor data.
• Ensure adherence to freight routing guidelines for inbound cost control.

Qualifications:

• Thorough grasp of purchasing policies, processes, and procedures.
• Complete familiarity with warehouse, inventory control policies and methods.
• Extensive capability in negotiating optimal vendor terms, pricing, and delivery aligned with budget and schedule.
• Skill in comprehending and highlighting contract terms, particularly disadvantageous clauses.
• Meticulous attention to detail.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and inventory systems, Max/ERP experience preferred.
• Accurate intermediate math abilities, including percentages, discounting, payback, and ROI analysis.
• Adherence to deadlines and willingness to exceed expectations for project completion.
• Collaborative team-oriented work style.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Completed APICS or ISM classes, with preference for Supply Chain Certification.
• 7 years of purchasing experience within manufacturing or demonstrated ability in procuring materials like metals, plastics, adhesives preferred.
