What are the responsibilities and job description for the Account Manager position at John Crane?
The purpose of this position is to drive profitable growth and market share of Key Accounts through the development and implementation of customer specific strategies.
The incumbent will have direct responsibility for local sites of designated accounts and if applicable, regional responsibility for the implementation of strategies in their assigned center of influence.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Grow market share by identifying new business opportunities within the key accounts.
- Support and manage project bid activity at designated accounts
- Manage and support pre and post order execution
- Key account management activities aimed at strengthening our relationships and driving higher market share at assigned accounts across the JC product range.
- Manage assigned sales activities expenses within approved budget.
- Ensure all formal agreements with assigned Accounts follow the agreed approval process for the customer and John Crane.
- Manage the involvement of sales, marketing, engineering, departments, and lines of business to ensure optimum solution is delivered.
- Secure sales contracts within budgeted pricing guidelines and meet company standards for margins.
- Manage assigned key accounts, research and resolve service issues with clients.
- Manage all required sales reporting for assigned area such as aggregate and site/region specific forecasts, actual sales results, variance analysis and mitigation plans to eliminate negative variances.
- Provide weekly/monthly/90-day sales forecasts and explain variances to forecasts.
- Conduct market and competitor analysis to identify new clients and opportunities for growth.
- Continually update industry, product, competitor, and market knowledge and provide information to Director Sales and Marketing. Upsell and expand revenue with existing clients.

The Individual
- High School Diploma or equivalent required. Some college preferred.
- Minimum three years sales experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Requires comprehensive knowledge of products sold and serviced by the company including the application of those products.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience of achieving year over year sales growth
- Ability to manage a team of people with various job responsibilities.
- Self-Starter and highly motivated to achieve results with minimal direct supervision.
- Ability to develop presentations for customers and potential customers and present in a professional manner.
- Computer literate with good working knowledge of MS Office suite and ERP systems
- Experience working with a diverse group is a plus.
