John Michael Kohler Arts Center in Sheboygan, WI, is currently seeking a Human Resources Representative to bring in a diverse talented staff (exempt/non-exempt) for roles throughout the Arts Center to support the mission, goals, retention and high performance for all departments. Additionally the HR Representative will assist other members of the HR team with HRIS, benefits administration, and special projects.
This position builds trustworthy relationships with hiring managers, staff, outside organizations and the public to foster a positive inclusive culture. This position also ensures a consistent equitable recruitment process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Confers with management and other Human Resources staff to identify staffing needs, job specifications, job duties, qualifications, and skills.
- Develops and maintains consistent proactive recruitment programs and collateral about the Arts Center to attract applicants and to fill specific job openings.
- Reviews and edits job descriptions written by others.
- Creates job ads, reviews applications, interviews applicants, and makes recommendations for future interviews.
- Processes background checks and professional references.
- Develops and maintains network of contacts to help identify and source qualified candidates. Initiates contact with possibly qualified candidates for specific job openings.
- Develops and maintains contacts with schools, alumni groups, and other public organizations to find and attract applicants.
- Conducts new employee orientation to ensure the completion of onboarding paperwork, understanding of policies/procedures, and learning about the Arts Center and how their roles contribute to the mission.
- Assist with HRIS entry, maintenance, data gathering and reporting.
- Assist with benefits administration and enrollment.
- Assist and coordinate other Human Resources projects as needed to further improve the efficiency and level of support that HR provides the Arts Center.
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources or other relevant degree
- 2–3 years prior recruitment experience with management, professional and front line exempt and non-exempt roles
- 1-2 year prior Human Resources experience a plus
- Proficient with social media and technology to support recruitment
- Prior project management experience a plus
- Must have a high level of interpersonal skills and be able to handle sensitive and confidential matters with appropriate discretion and responsibility.
