What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clerk III- Treasurer's Office position at Johnson County?
Under general supervision, performs duties equivalent or similar to those of a Clerk II. Additionally, provide leadership and training to clerical staff and perform functions of Deputy at the Deputy’s direction or in the Deputy’s absence.

High school graduate or equivalent AND two years of responsible clerical experience to include six (6) months of supervisory experience; OR any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Perform all duties of a Clerk II.
- Provide members of public with assistance and services on a full range of federal, state, and county laws rules and regulations; follow-up communication as necessary.
- Verify the accuracy and adequacy of lists, applications, and/or forms submitted by the public.
- Draft, issue and/or review titles and other documents filed with State offices.
- Balance both departmental and county-wide daily transactions as well as multiple bank accounts. If instructed by or in the absence of the Treasurer or a Deputy Treasurer, responsible for the final review and interpretation of documents filed with federal, state or local governments or agencies.
- Provide guidance on the clerical work of Clerk I and Clerk IIs.
- Study and familiarize oneself with federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations associated with the duties of the Treasurer’s Office.
- In the absence of the Treasurer or Deputy Treasurer (or at the instruction of the Treasurer or Deputy Treasurer), responsible for adherence to federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations; this may require high level interpretation.
- Clear Auditor warrants, receipt in receivables, perform daily bank work and other county financial tasks as necessary.
- Import and process online payments.
- Collect a variety of fees and balance transactions at end of business day.
- Balance both departmental and county-wide daily transactions.
- Balance multiple bank accounts against county records.
- Perform online banking tasks as directed.
- Prepare, record and store financial records required for internal and external audits.
- Perform general clerical duties, answering the telephone, making phone calls, photocopying, faxing, drafting correspondence and mailing correspondence, etc.
- Provide back up to Treasurer and Deputy Treasurer as needed.
- Participate in work-related meetings, committees, training and educational opportunities as required.
- Perform all work duties and activities in accordance with County policies, procedures and safety practices.
