The Production Scheduler is responsible for determining the products to be built, and the machines or production lines to be used in producing them in timely and efficient manner. Create and organize the production schedule through the use of information from job orders and available inventory. It is the duty of the scheduler to monitor the company’s production schedule and also make necessary changes in the schedule when the need arises.
The Production scheduler will work closely with the Production Planner to monitor inventory levels at all times to make sure that the company doesn’t lack production materials at any point in time in order to avoid delay in production and delivery.
Make sure that the resources being used in the production process are efficiently managed (through production scheduling), thereby minimizing cost; and also ensuring timely delivery of orders to clients/customers.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Carry out planning and coordination of production schedules.
- Supervise schedules and workflow to ensure that deliveries are made in a timely manner.
- Perform pre-organization of production materials before the commencement of production.
- Coordinate and develop production plans with the company’s management team.
- Create efficient scheduling processes or methods so as to attain production goals.
- Generate production reports, when required, that are meant to be used for important (production) decisions.
- Solve problems that have to do with material/customer shortages in a timely manner.
- Handle all production issues in a way that it doesn’t hinder production and delivery.
Required Skills and Competencies:
- High School Diploma
- 3 to 5 years of experience as a Scheduler or similar position
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- High level attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft office, Mainframe AS400; MAPICS; EDICOM)
- Open and release Work Orders to Assembly and/or manufacturing. Monitor progress through cycle to ensure timely completion.
- Review requirements for purchased materials and place purchase order releases with suppliers.
- Level load production lines and develop weekly production schedules.
- Projects and other duties as assigned by the Manager.
- Ability to create and understand reports in order to make production decisions.
Preferred Skills and Competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Procurement or Materials
- Strong analytical skills; background/experience in statistics a plus
- Automotive manufacturing experience
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $36,799.89 - $44,318.14 per year
