- This position will engage a scientist to perform process development scale-up and scale-down, and Toxicology material production for antibody & protein processes within the API-Proteins group.
- The candidate’s primary responsibilities will include leading and participating in the design and execution of experiments, and optimizing the process steps to the target process scale. This will focus on pilot-scale scale bioreactors and down stream processing in new facilities under construction.
- The Scientist will be responsible for the design and execution of development studies to identify and resolve issues relating to technical transfer of downstream processing for drug substance production at our manufacturing plants.
- Candidate will plan experiments, record and analyze experimental data, verify data integrity and accuracy, use models to predict performance at manufacturing scale, and report/summarize findings to the project team, and also draft technical documents and perform technology transfer to collaboration partners.
- Candidates are encouraged to work in a collaborative environment as well as contributing individually to meet project timeline and objectives and utilize the latest technology in electronic data capture and processing.
Qualifications
- A degree in Chemical Engineering or Biological Sciences or Biochemistry or related field is required
- PhD with 0-3 years of Post-Doctoral experience OR MS with 6 years experience OR BS with at least 8 years experience OR at least 3 years of experience performing progressively advanced duties at the Senior Associate Scientist level preferred
- Knowledge of and hands-on experience in one of the following areas is required: Downstream processing, purification of antibodies and/or proteins, chromatography or filtration.
- Pilot scale or scale-up experience is preferred
- Familiarity with and hands-on experience with modeling typically used in the manufacture and characterization of recombinant proteins is preferred
- Experience with Technical Transfer to manufacturing sites is a plus
- She / He / They are encouraged that be highly organized and capable of pursuing multiple projects with some supervision
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are required
- Experience maintaining written records of work in the form of laboratory notebooks (paper or electronic) is required
- The ability to report data, present findings to management is required
- Experience with team-based collaborations is preferred
- Occasional weekend work may be necessary
