We have a full-time opening based out of our production shop located in Chippewa Falls WI. For over 100 years, families have trusted Johnson Monument Company to create timeless, custom granite and bronze memorials that are as unique as the people they honor. What will you do in this position?
- In general, this position will assist the setting/grounds crew with installation of headstones/monuments; in addition to unloading/uncrating delivered product and loading completed orders.
- Assist with production team on the sandblasting, cleaning and maintenance of headstones/monuments.
- Add, review, or remove stencil on granite prior to blasting.
- Sandblast, hand polish and machine polish granite memorials.
- Sawing and grinding granite memorials.
- Clean and repair memorials as required.
- Erect monuments at gravesites as directed.
- Drive to cemetery gravesites with other setters to erect monuments, follow maps, diagrams and written specifications such as: locate grave spaces, prepares foundation and secure monument components.
- Assisting the main setter, to install concrete and/or granite foundation/caps for the headstones/monuments.
- Removes sections of monument from truck bed and guides stone onto foundation using skids, handcart and hoist or truck crane.
- Fill joints between stone with setting compound.
- Assist with the cleaning and maintenance of company vehicles.
- Assist with the maintenance of small engines such as compressors.
What are we looking for?
- High school degree or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Individual who enjoys working outdoors and on a variety of different tasks.
- Prior sandblasting experience strongly preferred.
- Mental alertness to ensure safe and accurate completion of work activities.
- Ability to safely use and operate related work aides including motor driven pallet jacks, steel setting carts, truck mounted cranes and forklifts.
- Able and willing to work and drive in various weather conditions 8 hours per day.
- Can work independently with attention to detail.
