The Resource Manager position is a great position for someone seeking an opportunity to lead and develop staff and who enjoys working collaboratively with leadership team members and project managers. The success of this role relies on your people skills, project management skills, and data management skills to manage across the organization to ensure we have our talented teams best challenged, developed, and utilized in support of our clients' and business needs. This role will be working with our Engineering teams but a background in this area is not required.
You will work collaboratively with our civil engineering, planning, and land survey practice leadership, project managers, and design staff to ensure projects are appropriately staffed and our team members are appropriately utilized. You'll meet with project managers and to continuously assess the current and future needs for talent and to align expectations around skill development needs for staff members. Additionally, the Resource Manager will meet with design staff to ensure project schedules are being met and quality processes are being followed, to develop resource plans for projects, and to develop, coach, and mentor these staff members.
Requirements:
- Work collaboratively with project managers and practice leadership to identify resource needs for upcoming and ongoing projects
- Assist with the development of resource plans for projects based on identified resource needs
- Aggregate resource plan data to determine projected utilization and overtime needs for the resource pool
- Drive results in improving resource pool utilization while supporting increased margin on projects
- Report weekly on projected utilization rates for members of the resource pool
- Key member of the team developing resource management processes and capacity planning capabilities for Quiddity
- Meet frequently with resource pool staff members to mentor, coach, and develop
- Work with other company functional areas such as Sales, HR, Financial, IT, and other Resource Managers to refine resource management tools, systems, and information
- Using resource management tools, identify resource needs and work with recruiting team to attract additional talent at the appropriate time
- Bachelor’s Degree required – STEM-related degree a plus
- More than 5 years of experience in project management
- RMCP Resource Management Certification is a plus
- Experience in professional services industry is helpful
- Great interpersonal skills
- Strong collaboration skills
- Experience in using data and performance metrics to drive success
- Proficient in Microsoft Office – Outlook, Excel, Project, and Word
- Accuracy and a high level of attention to detail is necessary
