Jones Law Firm is looking for an associate attorney to assist in a variety of criminal and civil matters. The applicant would be responsible for performing a wide range of legal work under the general direction and supervision of senior attorney. Legal work includes attending hearings for criminal matters, participating in both criminal and civil trials, investigation and analysis of facts, taking and defending depositions, and preparation of legal documents, such as complaints, written discovery, and motions.
Responsibilities:
- Draft legal documents and written discovery.
- Attend court hearings for criminal and civil cases (both in-person and virtual).
- Prepare legal briefs.
- Represent clients in state and federal court.
- Take and defend depositions.
- Participate as second-chair in both criminal and civil trials.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Licensed and in good-standing with the State Bar of New Mexico.
- Previous experience in law firm preferred.
- Strong legal research and writing skills required.
- Strong oral argument skills required.
- Experience in criminal law preferred.
- Must be willing and able to travel to surrounding counties on a weekly basis. Occassional overnight travel may be required.
- Must be comfortable representing client in serious criminal offenses, including sex offenses.
- Strong attention to detail required.
Pay is negotiable and commensurate with experience.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
