woodpecker 3rd shift

The Woodpecker Operator operates the woodpecker. He or she is familiar with its safety features and guidelines. He or she has a keen eye for quality. It also involves the upkeep and maintenance of the entire Woodpecker area.  He or she also coordinates and works closely with the upcoming shift to determine any needs that may arise regarding changeover. 

Essential Functions

1. Starts up and shuts down the machine and operates during shift.
2. Understands the programing of the Woodpecker along with how to locate and maneuver the programs needed to operate the machine. This includes loading, and modifying programs. Also, locating and reading CAD drawings.
3. Understands the machines codes or is able to learn this.
4. Communicates with QA and Lead to review parts or quality issues. Does quality checks on incoming parts, ensures quality product off the line, helps the quality staff trouble shoot production related quality issues and put in defect and scrap information.
5. Changes bits and able to re-order bits or sharpen bits.
6. Change tools, set tool length and re-order as needed.
7. Understands the gluing function and cleaning of glue head. Use Go-NOGO Gauges, and adjusts glue flow.
8. Cleans machine, performs specified maintenance (including greasing and oiling), put in maintenance request and ECO's. Is familiar with all emergency shut offs and stops or resets.
9. Understands and follows the enhanced dispatch list.
10. Understands and follows lockout procedures.
11. Presence in the workplace is an essential function of this job.

Additional Functions

1. May be responsible for training others on the woodpecker's operation.
2. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Mechanical aptitude.
• Excellent understanding of the metric system as well as the metric tools necessary to operate the machine.
• Good communication skills required to ensure communication between shifts.
• .
• Good knowledge of our support system, i.e. Fourth Shift.
• Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language for safety purposes in an understandable manner.
