The position requires a demanding mix of organization, service smarts, and emotional IQ. This is the top leadership role in the restaurant. Candidates should be in possession of excellent communication skills, have a high degree of comfort speaking about food, wine and spirits, and be confident problem solvers.
The Day to Day:
- Work service and be active on the floor. Managers are engaged in service for 80% of their hours, while the behind the scenes work makes up about 20% of one's week.
- Engage. Engage with your team. Engage with new guests. Engage with old regulars. Engage with neighbors. Engage with the community. One is always fostering relationships and looking for opportunities to create story-worthy moments for diners
- Communicate constantly with your colleagues in the kitchen, on the dining room floor, in the office and on the executive team, all in pursuit of a smoothly running restaurant filled with happy people.
- Prepare for and lead informative and inspirational pre-shift meetings.
- Coach the team! Offer specific, constructive, individual feedback for improvement and deliver high fives when a job is well done.
- Recruit and train future generations of well-intentioned and highly skilled teammates.
