Job Summary:
The Team Lead directs and coordinates the production of an assigned department or area. Responsibilities include meeting assigned requirements for quality, quantity, cost, delivery, inventory, cycle time, and safety. The individual is responsible for production schedules, quality control, OJT, and allocation of materials, human resources, and equipment within the area. Responsible for effectively interacting with fellow team leaders, supervisory and management staff as well as employees within their department and all support areas. Ensure areas of responsibility are staffed to meet production goals; evaluate staffing on a daily and weekly basis and make necessary adjustments to maintain output objectives while maximizing efficiency and minimizing overtime. On a daily basis, participate in team meetings to manage and communicate progress on daily and weekly goals, audit results, and potential barriers to success. Ensure same expectations and goals are in turn communicated to employees. Ensure employee and workstation readiness. Maintain appropriate workstation supply levels. Provide employee training as necessary and provide input on training needs. Identify problems and issues. Research root cause(s), detect and implement solutions. Escalate problems and communicate with other production areas as appropriate. Provide informal performance feedback. Escalate employee/personnel issues as appropriate. Measure, analyze and communicate key performance indicators. Ensure compliance with policies and procedures for the area.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior experience running an area, preferably in a jewelry manufacturing environment
- Excellent communication skills required
- Analytical and problem-solving skills required
- Working knowledge in PC skills required; MS Office, AS400
- Must be able to read and accurately interpret order related documentation
- Must be able to visually check product for compliance with quality standards and customers specifications
- Plan and coordinate activities of 10-70 people in areas of responsibility
- May stand 15%, walk 85% of the normal workday, as required by department.
- Must be able to understand departmental processes and order flow, and tooling, as required by department.
Bonus:
- Education: Associate’s degree in related discipline preferred
- Previous manufacturing experience preferred
- Experience with implementation of continuous improvement, process improvement, Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma standards of operations preferred.
