Position Overview: We are looking for a talented and experienced Lead Mechanical Assembler to oversee our assembly operations. This is a working lead role and the ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for quality and precision. As the Lead Mechanical Assembler, you will be responsible for coordinating and supervising the assembly team, ensuring that products are assembled efficiently, accurately, and according to specifications, while also ensuring that standard work procedures are followed, and the stop-call-wait protocol is adhered to.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and actively participate in a team of mechanical assemblers to ensure timely completion of projects.
- Train new employees on assembly techniques, safety procedures, and quality standards.
- Responsible for ensuring the assembly team meets and/or exceeds production targets.
- Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and assembly instructions.
- Implement and oversee first piece inspection procedures to verify the quality of the initial product assembly.
- Ensure that standard work procedures are followed consistently across the assembly process.
- Monitor and enforce adherence to the stop-call-wait protocol during assembly to prevent errors and ensure quality.
- Assemble mechanical components and sub-assemblies using hand and power tools.
- Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and customer requirements.
- Identify and resolve any issues or discrepancies in the assembly process.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize assembly procedures and improve efficiency.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety protocols and regulations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in mechanical engineering or a related field preferred.
- Proven experience in mechanical assembly, preferably in a leadership role.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems and assembly techniques.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and schematics.
- Experience implementing and overseeing first piece inspection protocols or similar quality control procedures.
- Familiarity with standard work procedures and quality control methods.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with assembly software or tools.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $21.00 per hour
