Job Description:
The Specialist, Packaging will analyze present and proposed manufacturing processes and technologies to determine improvements to processes, equipment, and automation to optimize manufacturing processes, meet present and new regulations, reduce waste, and increase capacity. Develop and implement methods to increase thru-put while complying with cGMP's. Essential responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Identify applications where technology can be applied to improving SOPs, yields, increasing efficiency, and reducing waste. Evaluate and propose planning techniques to assist in the successful completion of defined projects.
- Optimize and define processes to maximize yield and reduce waste.
- Assist in the selection and installation of manufacturing process equipment.
- Identify, recommend, and implement solutions to process problems in manufacturing.
- Direct the integration of new products from development into manufacturing.
- Effectively coordinate required activities with other departments as to ensure completion of defined projects.
- Write, review, and maintain documentation for multiple projects.
- Provide effective day-to-day leadership and oversight for small groups ranging in size from two to twelve technicians.
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor of Science in hard science preferred.
- Must have a minimum of 2 years related experience.
- Pharmaceutical experience desired.
- Must have ability to be trained and proficient in the core department tasks such as: inspection, packaging paperwork, and labeling. Knowledge of Lighthouse Headspace Testing and Marchesini Cartoning Machines a plus.
- Lead experience and strong demonstrated leadership abilities required.
- Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel required, PowerPoint desired.
- Experience with SAP and ETQ desired.
- Mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity required.
- Must be knowledgeable of Quality Assurance and Manufacturing Systems. Must be able to keep abreast of technological advances in automation, computerization, manufacturing techniques, and government regulations. Understand the concepts behind cGMP and the packaging process which include: checking production schedules, getting required paperwork and labels, inspection, labeling, shrink wrapping and packaging. Must be able to troubleshoot minor equipment issues.
- Requires the ability to make logical decisions and produce technical reports to be understood by people not technically trained. Ability to effectively communicate in a team environment and contribute to maintaining positive interpersonal relations with various departments.
- Must be able to provide information and/or data from the investigation of various topics which will assists and/or enhance management's decision process. Review and recommend alternative production processes; manual, semi-automation, ad automation to increase production efficiencies. Define appropriate budgets for various projects. Use problem solving techniques to aid developing risk analysis.
- Physical Requirements:Ability to lift 60 lbs unassisted.14/14 corrected near-point vision. Pass color deficiency test. Working in aseptic areas and confined spaces. Pushing, pulling, prolong standing, and twisting.
Compensation:
- This position pays $29.05 to $39.30 per hour, depending on experience, with opportunity for growth, promotion and annual raises.
- This position is eligible for a shift premium of $2.00 per hour worked between 3pm and 11pm, and $2.50 per hour worked between 11pm and 7:30am.
