Job Title: Part-Time Accountant
Department: Operations Department

Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced part-time accountant to join our nonprofit organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of nonprofit accounting principles and experience with financial reporting. This position will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with regulations, and supporting the overall financial health of our organization.
Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Accounts Payable/Receivable: Oversee the processing of invoices, payments, and receipts in a timely and accurate manner. Manage accounts receivables.
- Financial Assistance: Collaborate with other departments, such as program and operations areas, to understand their financial needs and provide relevant insights.
- Reconciliations: Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and other financial records on a monthly basis.
- General Ledger: Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger accounts and entries to include processing journal entries as needed and quarterly/yearend accruals.
- Payroll: Assist with payroll processing, including calculating quarterly and yearend accruals and biweekly payroll reconciliations.
- Grant Management: Track grant income and expenses, ensuring compliance with grant requirements.
- Donations/Contributions: Track restricted and unrestricted donations/contributions from various companies/organizations.
- Procurement: Oversee contracts/agreements/leases to ensure completeness and accuracy of terms of contracts/agreements/leases. Establish a process for acquisitions of goods and services, to include fixed assets.
- Financial Analysis: Assist with budget preparation and financial forecasting. Conduct research and analysis to support cost-benefit analysis and other financial decision-making processes.
- Audits: Prepare and organize financial records for annual audits.
- Policy and Procedures: Assist with the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards and regulations, specifically for non-profit organizations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in nonprofit accounting
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks Desktop/Online preferred)
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Hours:
This is a part-time position with flexible hours, totaling approximately 25 hours per week.
