POSITION SUMMARY: The Community Marketing and Event Manager is responsible for implementing and overseeing all marketing, PR, and events to drive traffic, brand recognition and sales for Julia and Henry and its partners. This will require a thorough understanding of our business and marketing strategy, strong writing skills, good communication and coordination with PR agencies, restaurant staff, vendors, and the community. The ability to project manage and problem solve in a fast-paced environment is a must. You will manage the face and voice of the brand and all community communications.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: The following are intended as basic requirements. Success will come to the individual that is able to expand upon these job requirements. These requirements may change over the course of employment.

  • Maintain a consistent voice and brand image across Julia and Henry and its vendors including corporate messaging, brand positioning, press releases, sponsorship decks, website content (editorial), social media, and email blasts
  • Assist in development and oversee the implementation of key marketing and PR strategies
  • Communicate marketing and PR strategy and objective to management and other applicable staff
  • Assist in managing allocated fiscal budgets throughout the year with quarterly reconciliations and projections
  • First point of contact for all General Managers at all stores with regards to marketing initiatives
  • Assist in managing external PR and marketing agencies
  • Coordinate partner, community, and vendor relationships; leverage each relationship when appropriate for marketing opportunities
  • Assist in executing marketing & PR events in coordination with restaurant management
  • Ensure leadership is well-informed of restaurant-driven marketing activities; develop metrics and tracking reports
  • Oversee philanthropic relations and communications including allocation of charitable contributions
  • Manage community and respond to messages
  • Manage external marketing agency partners and collaborate on digital strategies and activations
  • Creation and deployment of web, social media, email, collateral, merchandise, digital marketing and other communications in collaboration with and oversight of external marketing agency partners
  • Planning and execution of marketing campaigns and activations in coordination with restaurant management
  • Assisting with PR-related tasks (e.g. fulfillment of assets to media outlets, research, database maintenance)
  • Managing and engaging on restaurant social media accounts
  • Collection and analysis of reservation, sales and website data to constantly improve marketing programs
  • Understanding and communicating marketing strategy and objectives to restaurant management and staff
  • Adhere to all work rules, procedures and policies established by the company.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the company in order to operate the business most efficiently.

SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES

Marketing Ownership of all marketing tactics, including, but not limited to:

  • Key Liaison for all collateral development for both print & online working closely with the external marketing agency, Operations Team, and Managing Partners on creative/brand direction
  • Maintain the catering, sales, special events and PR kits, and distribute to the appropriate parties
  • Copy writing - including:
  • Website
  • Social media monitoring (review content and grammar)
  • Web profile & promotion updates for Yelp, OpenTable, Trip Advisor and similar platforms
  • Sponsorship decks, event kits for various marketing campaigns press releases, PR kits, and any other brand materials
  • Plan content of value and establish objectives
  • Organize and plan execution across all platforms
  • Oversee marketing brief, memos and recap reports for all marketing promotions – distribute to the team
  • Support Operations and Culinary teams for brand activations, holidays and special events
  • Competitive research and analysis of like-concept activations
  • Oversee marketing activations analytics reports & promotional recaps
  • Pitch, submit, and publish activations across 3rd party online platforms not limited to OpenTable, Google, Yelp, local partners (BIDs, building organizations, etc.), local online calendar listings and concierges
  • Collect and analyze data for insightful wrap-reports of each activation; develop metric and tracking reports
  • Place orders (decorations/products) as needed and process/files invoices

Social Media & Digital Marketing

  • Strategy and creation of an engaging social media program for restaurant and corporate social media channels
  • Execute calendar, generate, and publish content
  • Ongoing research and trendspotting of social media and digital trends, pitching and creating new social media content ideas
  • Managing website content including brand language, location information, menus, holiday and event pages, press hits and gallery
  • Identify and collaborate with local social media influencers
  • Oversee website content (pop-ups/ events/newsletters/blog posts/location information / PR clips)

Community Relations

  • Oversee community relations activities, tracking and responses, manage assisting staff to ensure that the guest responses are executed in a correct and timely manner
  • Manage customer responses received through review sites
  • Facilitate the response to all review postings (positive and negative); report negative responses
  • Peruse the internet for customer commentary (positive and negative) and recommend ways to remedy/support
  • Compose and post online responses on the company’s review tracking system
  • Turn every negative review into a positive one. Find, track and help change items in our guest experience that are causing a negative experience
  • Communicate directly with clients and encourage trusting relationships
  • Update and maintain metric and tracking sheet with the results of each guest experience
  • Liaise with operations and culinary to review findings, improve experiences

Public Relations Support

  • Help manage PR agencies and activities, acting as a daily liaison, providing images, coordinating interviews and tracking opportunities
  • Help develop and maintain annual PR plan
  • Assist in writing/editing/boosting releases and media briefs
  • Ensure relevant press hits are socialized both internally and externally
  • Maintain press kit and assets, fulfill media requests as needed
  • Pitch events and activations to local media lists
  • Help prepare media briefs and key talking points for interviews and media appearances
  • Review media opportunities. Provide pro & con analysis of brand participation and make your recommendations
  • Coordinate PR events at the restaurants, distribute marketing brief, and communicate with team
  • Media reservations oversight and attendance (when necessary)

In-House and Special Events

  • Conducts short- and long-term planning and management for events and sales.
  • Recommends, develops, and implements effective marketing plans for generating event revenues.
  • Assist in coordination of production and promotion of in-house events (theme, décor, menus, etc.) work closely with the operations team on execution
  • Represent restaurants at events with a member of the culinary team, table design, collateral displays
  • Engage with community on behalf of our team
  • Negotiate sponsorship deals.
  • Provide necessities for events such as contracts for entertainment, equipment, and collateral
  • Analyze the event’s success and prepare reports

Culinary/Operations

  • Work closely with culinary/operations team to edit and update menus, both printed and online versions
  • On-demand research of restaurants, industry happenings and food trends, gathering competitive menus and pricing information as needed
  • Maintain the POS / delivery platform with relevant information including but not limited to photos, prices, descriptions, etc.

General Department Support

  • Own all activation calendar administration, distribute to all relevant stakeholders and updating with pertinent information
  • Manage CRM/contact database for all locations via various platforms (e.g. Mailchimp, internal databases)
  • Monitor and maintain inventories of branded collateral for each store
  • As-needed support for any and all marketing-related tasks including digital marketing, advertising, PR, etc.

Internal communications

  • Work with HR to draft corporate messaging and ensure brand standards are maintained at all external touch points including website, training manuals, newsletter, LinkedIn and internal email communications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • College degree preferred
  • 2-3 years of experience in marketing, advertising, PR; restaurant and/or hospitality experience required
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and function effectively within set deadlines
  • Bilingual preferred; English proficiency required.
  • Self-starter with a positive can-do attitude and proactive work ethic
  • Exquisite attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Traveling required
  • Closely follow trends as it relates to food, beverage, tech, lifestyle and pop culture while keeping a finger on the pulse of what’s ‘next’ to further inform an effective strategy
  • Proficient with digital marketing tools and software programs including Mailchimp, Adobe InDesign, and social media platforms
  • Must be able to work without close supervision

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
