The Mechanical Maintenance Technician is responsible for providing the technical expertise and technical leadership to deliver results for our Bellingham, WA, chocolate factory. This person will provide critical leadership for major capital projects and maintenance excellence and ensure plant safety, operations, and quality.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Perform general and preventive maintenance work, including mechanical, single—and three-phase electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics, plumbing, and fabrication.
- Assist in maintaining and documenting electrical control drawings, process descriptions & equipment tagging.
- Working knowledge to provide preventative and corrective maintenance support for the factory utilities, including heating, plumbing, ventilating and air conditioning equipment, high-pressure boilers, air compressors, and wastewater.
- Knowledge of PLC’s computer interfaces, and other related electrical control devices preferred.
- Knowledge of the Maintenance Management System, spare parts documentation, and work order completion preferred.
- Assist in maintaining P&ID’s, electrical control drawings, process descriptions, equipment tagging, and documentation as assigned.
While performing all duties, the employee is expected to:
- Follow the plant safety rules and report incidents & unsafe conditions immediately.
- Understand the environmental aspects of the position and take action to reduce these environmental impacts.

- Maintain compliance with regulations on all related procedures and programs.
- Understand the food safety and quality aspects of the position.
- Understand and apply the principles of continuous improvement in the work area.

- Maintain a valid driver’s license and forklift certification.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Critical thinking and ability to troubleshoot equipment
- Ability to work effectively with people at all levels of the organization.
- Self-directed/ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Effective reading, writing, communication, and computer skills.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum 5 years experience working with food systems
- Degree or Diploma from a Technical College preferred
- Be flexible and work overtime as needed

- Expected hours: 32 – 50 per week
- 7AM - 3:30PM
- 8-hour morning shift
- Monday to Friday-
- Nights as needed
