MIDDLE SCHOOL ATHLETIC COORDINATOR

Salary Range: EDUSTAFF or PPS Schedule C
Starting Date: Fall 2024
Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Middle School Principal, the Athletic Coordinator acts as the school representative for inter-scholastic and intramural athletic activities. Athletic Cooridnator duties are in addition to teacher or PPS Support Staff activities.
Responsibilities:
- Strong leadership skills that include thorough knowledge and background experience in athletics
- Ability to manage the athletic budget and attend all home contests
- Schedules athletic contests, game officials and transportation
- Assist with annual evaluation of coaches
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Regular and consistent attendance.
- Must have knowledge of and comply with the policies and procedures contained in the Portage Public Schools Employee Handbook.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education.
- Previous experience in athletics or coaching
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with district staff and the public.
- Ability to assume responsibility, display initiative, and exercise good judgment.
- Proficient computer and document skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Desire to serve others.
- High moral character.
- Ability to understand and follow policies (WMS, PPS, MHSAA).
- Must undergo a background check and fingerprinting.
