Purpose of the position
This position is focused on meeting domestic sales objectives for Terminal Trucks in the assigned region. This position will report to the Director of Sales and Marketing, Ottawa Truck. Working through Kalmar Dealer networks and assigned direct accounts, the Regional Sales Manager will promote and capture sales within the region and will serve as the liaison between the dealer and the Kalmar Sales/Service network.
Main tasks and responsibilities
- Achieve sales volumes for the assigned region.
- Maintain analysis of customer needs and product requirements to satisfy customer wants by segment.
- Conduct product training for the dealer sales organization to insure dealer competency.
- Establish sales goals for dealers and communicate with the dealer operations team.
- Maintain market information on competitive product content and pricing.
- Responsible for fleet sales to direct accounts as assigned.
- Provide on-going input to dealer performance evaluations and dealership action plans.
- Manage the sales discounts within guidelines.
- Assure that proper inventory and demonstrators are available.
- Provide input for forecasts on sales and industry volume.
- Achieve a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Communicate all sales programs.
- Work with Engineering, Parts, Product Support and Dealer Development to maximize performance in all areas.

What you’ll need to succeed
- Business Management degree; will consider combination of Sales/Marketing experience and education in lieu of BS degree
- Broad understanding and experience in dealer retail business
- Minimum of five (5) years' experience in heavy industrial equipment sales and support
- Should possess a technical aptitude for heavy equipment; some knowledge of engineering is a plus.
- Candidates must have superior communication and negotiation skills and the ability to communicate with individuals and/or groups consisting of principle owners, dealer representatives, customer-end users, and other sales, parts, technicians or service personnel.
- Must be able to face and address difficult issues and personalities
- Able to build credibility with the dealer organization is critical to success
- A "Can Do" attitude and sense of urgency is required to create change and to impact our overall performance.
- Must be capable and willing to travel and represent a large South East Region (US ) – requiring travel 2 to 3 weeks per month / 3-4 days per week.
