Job Duties: The Veterans Treatment Court Mentor Coordinator recruits, screens for eligibility, and maintains a database of interested mentors for court participants. The Veterans Treatment Court Mentor Coordinator will be responsible for training mentors and leading mentoring sessions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Recruit, train and supervise Veteran Mentors for the program to include identifying veterans from all branches of military service, different gender, and ethnicities.
- Participate in Veteran’s Treatment Court team planning to help educate the team about the needs of veterans in the community
- Attend Veteran’s Treatment Court Docket sessions
- Participate in and lead mentoring sessions with veterans who are involved with the criminal justice system.
- Assist the veteran as much as possible to resolve their concerns around the court procedures as well as interactions with the Veteran’s Administration system
- Provides training to Veteran Mentors on the program and their role as mentors
- Create and maintain a data system to manage the mentors/mentees
- Identify and partner with veteran specific agencies to assist and provide outreach services in the community
Required education and experience:
- Be a veteran from one of the branches for the United States Military, or from one of their corresponding Reserve or Guard branches or be in Active-Duty status. If you have been discharged, you must have an Honorable Discharge and provide a DD Form 214 stating such.
- Adhere to all Veteran’s Treatment Court Docket policies and procedures
- Participate in all Veteran’s Treatment court team meetings
- Participate in training as deemed appropriate by the court throughout your time of service, and sign a confidentiality agreement
- Not be currently on probation or parole for the conviction of any crime (felony or misdemeanor). Have no felony or misdemeanor convictions within the past three years and be able to pass a security background check.
- Experience with Microsoft Office products
