Job Title: Crisis Liaison
Job Classification: Hourly Non-Exempt
Reports To: Crisis Services Manager
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday; 40 hours/week; 1.0 FTE
Primary Responsibilities:
Crisis Liaison is responsible for assisting the Crisis Team and Case Managers, and other support staff in providing crisis services within a multi-disciplinary treatment team.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) or four years of equivalent education and/or experience working in the human services field.
- Certification in the State of Kansas to provide the service, which includes criminal, abuse/neglect registry, and professional background checks.
- Completion of a training program approved by KDADS within 6 months of hiring.
- Experience using Electronic Medical Record preferred.
- Must be proficient in the English Language.
Essential Job Functions:
- Triage crisis phone calls and coordinate needed services.
- Assist Crisis Team, QMHPs and other involved staff in coordinating state or acute psychiatric hospitalizations or crisis/respite bed facility admissions and discharges.
- Assist Crisis Coordinator, QMHPs and other involved staff by providing supportive interaction with clients in crisis to maintain safety.
- Communicate and work with community partners (hospital ER, primary care physician, law enforcement, and school staff) as needed to keep informed of crisis status.
- Crisis Liaison fulfills the duties and responsibilities as Hospital Liaison for the two state hospitals.
- Crisis Liaison will fulfill the duties of the PRTF Coordinator. This will require coordination, phone calls, and discharge planning with PRTF where the client is placed.
- There may be times when work outside of the regular job hours are required but are occasional and compensated as overtime.
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position is not a supervisory position.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time
- Ability to focus on computer screens for extended periods of time
Work Environment:
- The main work site for this position will be in the Hiawatha Main Office. However, some travel to other sites may be required.
