JOB SUMMARY
The host or hostess is the face of the restaurant and provides guests with their first impressions of the establishment. You must be patient, excel at customer service, and alert to guest needs. You will welcome patrons, seat them at tables or in lounge, and help ensure quality of facilities and services whilst maintaining the smooth running of the floor. Bringing your personality and engagement to the role is vital as you are the beginning and the end of the guest experience. The host or hostess portray a positive, professional and friendly demeanor at all times. You work proactively and efficiently in a fast paced environment and are able to engage in small talk with customers and willing to learn guests' names. As a confident communicator, you will be answering calls, liaising with different departments, and working together as a team. Your wellbeing and development will be supported throughout.
Host/Hostess Responsibilities:
· Greet guests as soon as they walk through the door and seat them at their table or in the lounge
· Interacts with guests as they arrive and as they leave the restaurant to ensure positive dining experience.
· Maintain a neat, organized front-of-house environment
· Maintains a friendly, cheerful and courteous demeanor at all times.
· Graciously say goodbye to all guests and extend an invitation to return to visit soon
· Assist with opening/closing tasks and side work as needed
· Rotate seating between different stations to ensure even workloads for waitstaff
· Oversee daily restaurant reservations, pre-assign seating where necessary
· Observes tables and keeps track of clean, dirty and occupied tables.
· Takes guest information and quotes wait times to guests accurately when tables are not immediately available.
· Understands and applies company's cleaning and sanitation guidelines and policies
· Answers phone and answers questions concerning the menu and restaurant.
· Knowledgable about all of our restaurant's’ hours of operations, menus, policies and procedures. Can proficiently answer questions about the restaurant.
· Communicate with management regarding special orders, cake orders, and special requests – responsible for conveying all such
· Manage customer complaints by providing appropriate solutions within guidelines and always following up to ensure resolution and guest satisfaction.
· Creates and updates guest profiles with the knowledge gained from the guest interaction
· Adheres to all company policy and procedures
· Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager.

- De-escalate situations involving dissatisfied guests by active listening, emphasizing and showing genuine interest in solving the issue.

- Makes sure that menus are clean and presentable to guests at all times

- All employees must maintain good personal hygiene. Fingernails must be cut and clean. Personal appearance must be suitable for work at all times.
