What are the responsibilities and job description for the JOM COORDINATOR position at Kaw Nation?
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: EDUCATION DIRECTOR
CONTROLLING SUPERVISOR: KHDD DIRECTOR
STATUS: REGULAR, FULL-TIME
LOCATION: PONCA CITY, OK
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED with at least two (2) years related office and/or administrative assistant experience. Prefer two (2) years of education above high school level obtained in an accredited business school, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college, or university. Must be able to set priorities, organize, coordinate work efficiently, and to establish good personal relations with parents, students and school staff.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Coordinate JOM program activities on behalf of the Kaw Nation.
- Conduct quarterly JOM parent committee meetings.
- Develop the JOM education plan from information gathered from annual needs assessment.
- Provide research, administrative, clerical and support services relating to projects for the Education/Social Services Department.
- Assist students with scheduling tutoring or provide transportation.
- Manage JOM plan to achieve performance goals and objectives.
- Coordinate and administer Johnson O’Malley activities to meet the unmet needs of Native American students in the Kaw Nation service area.
- Develop and maintain a close relationship with local schools regarding Native students.
- Consult with parents, students, and school’s regarding Native student’s progress.
All new hires will be required by the Kaw Nation (post hire) to submit to an employment drug screen. Failure to pass the post hire drug screen will lead to withdrawal of the job offer or termination of employment. Must be able to pass a background check, drug test and maintain such status, as well as possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and continue to be insurable.

- Four (4) hours of Sick Leave begins accruing with the first paycheck and each full check during employment. This amount remains the same throughout employment.
