Position Summary:
The purchasing manager's responsibilities include developing purchasing strategies, maintaining positive relationships with suppliers, coordinating with internal teams regarding their supply needs, and overseeing the purchasing team in their daily activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop, improve, implement and maintain written procedures and purchasing strategies
- Train new employees and continue training for current staff to elevate knowledge
- Conduct and process employee performance evaluations in a timely manner
- Manage daily purchasing activities, supervise staff and allocate tasks
- Manage supplier relationships, contracts, pricing, and timelines
- Maintain product database, purchasing records and related documentation
- Manages new items by following established naming conventions, unit of measure conventions, and correct utilization of item set up for proper reporting, and general ledger expenses
- Coordinate with inventory control to determine and manage inventory needs
- Ensure procured items meet required quality standards and specifications
- Preparing vendor quotes and communicating to proper internal staff
- Communicates with appropriate internal and external departments as needed regarding new items, location changes, and counts
Qualifications:
- Degree in Business administration or equivalent to 4 years of previous purchasing experience
- 3 years of purchasing management experience is preferred
- Deep knowledge of inventory and supply chain management
- Previous food and beverage experience highly beneficial
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and purchasing software
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Demonstrated quality interpersonal communications skills.
- Strong critical thinking and negotiation skills
- Strong planning and organizational tools
- Ability to work independently
- Positive attitude, professional manner, and appearance in all situations.
- Basic math skills: addition, subtraction, division.

Purchasing Agents
Working Conditions:
Work hours may include days and evenings on weekdays and weekends. Subject to inside and outside environmental conditions.
Machine/Equipment/Tools Used:
Office machines such as personal computers, printers, copiers, fax machines, calculators, telephones, scanners, etc. Ladders, pallet jacks, stackers, and or hand carts may be useful in the course of the position.
Physical Requirements:
Must have the ability to:
- Stand, sit, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, bend and kneel for up to 5 hours at a time
- Walk up and down stairs, step ladders, ladders up to 2 hours a day
- Lift up to 50 lbs occasionally, 20 lbs regularly
