What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chemist position at Kelly?
Job Role /Description: We have need of a talented contractor for a R&D Lab Technician/Chemist role in our Laminating Adhesives business within Packaging and Specialty Plastics. The ideal candidate would have a B.S. Chemistry degree or equivalent. Wet chemistry and/or organic synthesis experience is highly desirable. We are looking for someone that is self-motivated and can work independently in a chemical laboratory and handle chemicals.
Lab Technician Lab Responsibilities (laboratory training will be provided to the selected candidate)
- Adhesive and coating formulation
- Application testing
- Characterization of adhesive systems and laminated structures, including: rheology measurements, functional group analysis, hydroxyl number/acid number/NCO value Titrations, % solids measurements, UV-Vis spectrum, surface tension measurements, adhesion measurements.
- Synthesis of new polymer based upon polyurethane, polyester and acrylic chemistries.
- Execute experimental designs, data collection, and proper documentation, including databooks and reports.
- Maintain safe and efficient lab operation.
- Instrument maintenance, calibration, record keeping.
- Effective in multi-tasking to deliver project goals within time constraints.
- Effective communication and collaborate well with other team members.
- Self motivated and ability to work independently.
- Work in a safe and responsible manner.
