Chemist

Job Role /Description: We have need of a talented contractor for a R&D Lab Technician/Chemist role in our Laminating Adhesives business within Packaging and Specialty Plastics. The ideal candidate would have a B.S. Chemistry degree or equivalent. Wet chemistry and/or organic synthesis experience is highly desirable. We are looking for someone that is self-motivated and can work independently in a chemical laboratory and handle chemicals.

Lab Technician Lab Responsibilities (laboratory training will be provided to the selected candidate)

• Adhesive and coating formulation

• Application testing
• Characterization of adhesive systems and laminated structures, including: rheology measurements, functional group analysis, hydroxyl number/acid number/NCO value Titrations, % solids measurements, UV-Vis spectrum, surface tension measurements, adhesion measurements.
  • Synthesis of new polymer based upon polyurethane, polyester and acrylic chemistries.
  • Execute experimental designs, data collection, and proper documentation, including databooks and reports.
  • Maintain safe and efficient lab operation.
  • Instrument maintenance, calibration, record keeping.
  • Effective in multi-tasking to deliver project goals within time constraints.
  • Effective communication and collaborate well with other team members.
  • Self motivated and ability to work independently.
  • Work in a safe and responsible manner.
