Retail Gift Shop Customer Service, Buyer & Merchandiser

Kemper Drug & Gifts is seeking an energetic and friendly individual to join our team as the lead sales associate, Buyer and Merchandiser for our Gift Shop. The gift buyer will work with vendors to determine what merchandise to carry in the store, and purchase based on a predetermined budget. He or she will be required to attend the Minneapolis market, stay current on industry trends and customer preferences, and assist with marketing.

Duties include:

· Inventory management

· Setting store displays

· Assisting with staff training/orientation

· Educating staff on features and benefits of merchandise

· Assisting customers in the store and ringing sales

Skills required

· Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both in writing and verbally

· Strong problem solving, decision making, and sales analysis

· Strong computer skills; MS Excel and MS Word experience desired

· Willing and able to work independently

· Able to receive and act on constructive criticism

· Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask

· Ability to adapt to change

· Scan, handle and move merchandise efficiently and safely

· Frequently lift or move merchandise, potentially up to 40 pounds·

Experience required

· Previous retail experience required

· Previous buying experience greatly preferred

The gift buyer is responsible for curating gift and homewares, creating appealing displays, and welcoming customers while providing excellent customer service. He or she will oversee inventory management, customer satisfaction, pricing and promotional strategies.

Hours and schedule to be determined with candidate. Must be available at least 3 days per week, and a minimum of 15 hours per week. Position could be up to 40 hours per week.
