What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cable Technician position at Kendra I.T.?
Work hours may vary depending on the project. Some projects may be 2nd shift. Travel is expected 50% of the time, usually during the summer months and home during the winter months.
This position would be great for a current/former general laborer in the construction field, a maintenance worker, or anyone with a basic understanding of the construction of a building (cement block vs wood framing) and how to safely mount equipment to walls.
All technicians start out as Cable Technician 1A until training and certification are completed regardless of experience. All training and certification will occur during the first several weeks of employment. Some of the training/job duties include:
- Using ladders and safety
- Using an aerial lift (scissor and boom lift) certification and safety
- Using power tools like drills, saws, multi-tools, and safety
- Mounting network cabinets
- Mounting WiFi access points
- Mounting security cameras
- Pointing security cameras
- Mounting, cutting, and bending conduit
- Penetrating walls both interior and exterior
- Adding firestop and maintaining code during the build-out
- Pulling CAT6 communication wire
- Terminating CAT6
- Testing CAT6
- Pulling fiber optics
- Terminating fiber optics
- Testing fiber optics
- Adding old work boxes
- Adding surface mount boxes
- Cargo Safety
- Trailer Safety
- Company vehicle safety and expectations
