Public Relations (Writing/Official Scorer) Internship
The Kingfish are seeking an individual to produce our Daily Program, and serve as the official scorer for the Kingfish during all 36 regular season home games and possible playoffs for the 2025 season.
Responsibilities Include:
- Write game previews and post-game recaps for all 36 regular season home games plus playoffs.
- Provide new content to kingfishbaseball.com, including writing unique feature stories and press releases.
- Produce the Kingfish program – The Daily Catch with fresh features and articles each game.
- Serve as official scorer for all Kingfish regular season home games and playoffs using online software.
- Run the line score on the scoreboard during games.
- Assist with content creation and upkeep of the Kingfish digital game program throughout the season.
- Constantly update scoring software/digital program with player head shots.
- Assist with Simmons Field pre and postseason prep and operations including press box take down.
- Work with the Web Cast Director and Play by Play broadcaster as needed for data and help with production.
- Assist Web Cast Director with shoots.
- Run in game social media updates.
- Assist marketing department as necessary.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Required Skills:
- Exemplary writing ability, preferred experience in baseball/sports writing.
- Advanced knowledge of the game of baseball required.
- Experience scoring/taking book for baseball is required.
- Previous online scoring software experience preferred.
- Must possess split second baseball scoring decision making ability.
- Must be able to concentrate on each pitch during all Kingfish home games.
- Ability to adapt on the fly in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to learn new software quickly.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced press box.
- Excellent writing, communication and creative skills required.
- Newsletter or similar layout experience preferred.
- Adobe Suite, specifically InDesign and Photoshop, experience greatly preferred.
All interns must receive college credit for this internship OR this internship must qualify for a graduation requirement. All Interns will receive a housing & travel stipend for this internship.
