What are the responsibilities and job description for the Winter Dance Coach position at Kent ISD?
- 5 years of successful coaching experience preferred
- Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and, at the same time, must continue to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the field
- Thorough knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport
- Ability to organize and supervise a total sports program
- Organize a detailed plan for in-season and out of season player development to include daily practice plans and long term goal setting
- Provide student-athletes with educational support, guidance, and college planning
- Strong desire to help promote a high level of leadership in the program which helps to create student-athletes that embrace and display sportsmanship and leadership skills on and off the field
- Challenge athletes throughout the season in both performance character (work ethic, self-discipline, perseverance) and moral character (kindness, compassion, graciousness, respect, responsibility)
- Drive to perform community service along with team building events
- Provide strong leadership and organization of the entire program to include clear communication, vision, and expectations to all stakeholders (i.e: assistant coaches, student-athletes, families, alumni, athletic boosters, community supporters, etc)
- Attends staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance
- Follows state, regional, and district regulations governing the athletic program
- Models non discriminatory practices in all activities
- Models good sportsmanship and maintains appropriate conduct towards players and spectators
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with all Athletic Department staff members and other relevant school & community professionals
- Oversee all regular season game scheduling
- Coaches and instructs players, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment and techniques of the sport
- Oversee and maintain all program equipment and inventory

What We Need:
We are seeking an energetic, collaborative team member to join our Athletic Department and lead our dance program. We need someone with a high level of organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills along with a high degree of initiative. The Varsity Coach will instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a high degree of individual and team success. At the same time, the coach must teach and demonstrate behaviors that lead to character development, self discipline, self confidence, and pride of accomplishment in student athletes.
