By joining our Engineering Support Branch/Structures Section as a Highway Technician I in Hopkins County, you’ll have the opportunity to perform intermediate level work in roadway & structure maintenance operations, operate intermediate equipment, and perform technical tasks related to highway maintenance and construction.
Holders of the Highway Technician I position will complete tasks such as:
- Perform intermediate level maintenance work, operate intermediate equipment such as asphalt distributor, backhoe belt loaders, front-end loaders, tandem trucks
- Operate advanced equipment such as bridge snoopers, boom saws, bulldozers, cranes, excavators, lowboys
- Perform basic surveying activities
Holders of this job will obtain the following skills:
- Experience with Structures, Highway maintenance and construction maintenance
- Advanced equipment operation such as lowboys, self-propelled pavers, cranes, etc
Desired candidates possess the following requisite skills or experience applicable to the position:
- 4 years of highway or construction maintenance
- Have a Class A CDL with tanker endorsement
- Experience operating a tandem dump truck, front-end loader, asphalt distributor, etc
