Job Summary :
The primary function of the Truck Pick-up and Delivery Driver is to Deliver and pick up New & Used trucks as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities :
1. Maintains a current, valid Commercial Driver's License for Class 7 & 8 tractors and trucks. Maintains an excellent driving record, and completes all requirements for keeping CDL in good standing including physical exams, drug tests, driver's logbook, etc.
2. Maintains courteous and continuing relations with port authorities, highway patrol, Departments of Transportation and Motor Vehicles in the course of this employment.
3. Be available when called from time to time as needed to drive Class 7 and 8
tractors and trucks that are in the control of the dealership using the dealership dealer plates and insurance.
4. Drive company vehicles in a safe manner, obey all traffic laws and all DOT regulations. Report any motor vehicle violations to supervisor by the end of your shift.
5. Driver will be paid on a per trip basis through the payroll system with appropriate taxes being deducted. When necessary, driver will pay for their own airline, motel and meal expenses while on trip and turn in an expense report with receipts for reimbursement.
Paydays are bi-weekly on Fridays.
Qualifications :
Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information. High school diploma or the equivalent. Current, valid Commercial Driver's License in good standing.
Clean Driving record. General knowledge of mechanical components of Class 7 and 8 trucks. Familiarity with trucking industry, the requirements for transporting Class 7 & 8 tractors and trucks within and between the different states.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position involves both sedentary and physically demanding work. S / he must bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach and feel.
Will be exposed to noise, vibration, dust, paint and other hazardous and nonhazardous materials. Must also spend extensive periods of time driving multiple vehicles over short and long distances.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted on a regular basis.
