Job Title: Line Cook
Department: Operations
Reports to: Managing Partner, Culinary Partner or Store Leader on Duty
Position Summary: Line Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking food items in accordance with company standards. The Line Cook must coordinate orders to ensure they are cooked timely and with accuracy. They should demonstrate strong knowledge of all menu items and ingredients used in recipes while maintaining and ensuring that all food temperatures are appropriate for menu items (hot items hot). The Line Cook must also follow all company safety and sanitation standards. The Line Cook reports directly to the Managing Partner, Culinary Partner and Store Leaders each shift.
Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Knowledge of proper food safety and sanitation as well as security procedures.
• Understanding food specs, cook times, plate presentation, etc.
• Fast paced kitchen where multi-tasking and some experience is beneficial.
• Ensure all recipes are followed and food quality is up to Kerbey Lane Cafe standards.
• Working with knives, deep fryers, sauté, and other hot equipment will be included.
• Knowing when food has gone bad, understanding proper seasoning and what tastes good is essential.
• Will need to read orders, understand instruction from the lead cook, and talk to fellow cooks to make sure the food is delivered hot, delicious, and timely. Communication is crucial.
• Ability to maintain composure and a sense of teamwork while interacting with the Expo and other Store Leaders when expediting food.
• Guests may have special requests or complaints. Depending on the location you may be in view of the guest. Service with a smile will be necessary.
• Cooks are part of a large team, reporting to the Culinary Partner. You will need to be able to work as a team to create a great dining experience for our guests.
Essential Physical Requirements:
• Walks and stands during the entire shift.
• Reaches, bends, lifts, cuts, shakes, stirs, pours, carries, pushes, and wipes.
• Must have the ability to frequently lift and carry objects weighing 25 pounds or more.
Knowledge and Skills:
• Food Handler Certified by State of Texas and the city where the restaurant is located.
