About the role
Reporting to the Kerry Vinegar Group Network Supply Chain Manager, the Transportation Manager is accountable for progressing and embedding the transportation strategy for the Vinegar Group network. He or she will display transformational leadership, passion for supply chain / transportation / logistics / warehousing, business acumen, stakeholder relationship management, and relentless customer service mindset necessary for the Vinegar Group busines model.
This person will drive improvement initiatives to effectively manage transportation performance related to safety, quality, service and costs, will ensure robust communication and implementation of transportation operation policies and procedures changes with the Vinegar Group plants and 3PL’s, and will oversee the completion of the integration of transportation / logistics for FVC and National Vinegar.
What would you do?
- Strategically plan and manage transportation / logistics to drive superior customer experience at optimal costs. This includes ground (92%), rail (7%) and ocean (1%) across inbound and outbound.
- Partner with the Kerry North America Central Procurement team to ensure freight procurement is optimally managed for the relevant freight lanes needed for the Vinegar Group business.
- Oversee completion of the preparation and cutover to the BluJay Transportation Management System and to SAP.
- Identify the optimal mix of our fleet and the use of third party carriers for the Vinegar Group business.
- Support sites with rail car delivery failures and escalations with rail yards and/or rail lines.
- Deliver KPIs related to transportation performance, claims, and cost targets.
- Drive root cause correction action protocols for transportation-related customer complaints.
- Understand key risks for the business from changes in the freight industry due to macro-economic factors, and identify how these risks should be mitigated / managed.
What will you need to be successful?
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Business, Supply Chain, Finance or Engineering.
- APICS certification is a plus.
- 8 years transportation / logistics experience, including involvement in freight procurement.
- 4 years management experience.
- Preferred food / beverage / pharma / CPG background in a manufacturing environment, with relevant on the ground experience.
