Position Overview:
As the Tasting Room Manager at Keuka Spring Vineyards, you will play a pivotal role in managing our tasting room operations, ensuring exceptional customer experiences, and driving sales. Reporting to the Manager of Sales & Operations, you will be responsible for leading and supporting our tasting room team to deliver outstanding hospitality and promote our wines.

Responsibilities

Staff Management:

  • Schedule and coordinate staffing to ensure coverage during operating hours.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise tasting room staff.
  • Provide ongoing training and support to enhance staff knowledge and performance.
  • Synthesize feedback to develop ideas for improved services, processes, and promotions.

Customer Service and Sales:

  • Ensure exceptional service and memorable experiences for all customers.
  • Educate customers about our wines, history, and production processes.
  • Promote wine sales through effective communication and suggestive selling techniques.
  • Monitor sales data to identify trends and opportunities for growth.
  • Inventory Management:
  • Oversee inventory levels and place orders for replenishment as needed.
  • Implement inventory control procedures to optimize efficiency and accuracy.

Facility Maintenance and Presentation:

  • Maintain cleanliness and attractiveness of the tasting room and surrounding areas.
  • Coordinate maintenance and repairs to uphold safety standards.
  • Develop creative merchandising displays to showcase wines.

Event Coordination:

  • Collaborate with the Events Coordinator to plan and execute tasting room events.
  • Manage event logistics to ensure smooth operations and a memorable experience for attendees.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Perform monthly physical inventories of finished wines.
  • Provide daily support via phone, email, and postal mail.
  • Design signage and other graphic materials.
  • Purchase supplies and maintain document files.

Work Hours:

  • Normal hours are 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, five days a week, year-round.
  • Workdays may vary based on tasting room operations, agreed upon with the Manager of Sales & Operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and motivate tasting room staff, providing guidance, support, and training to ensure exceptional customer service.
  • Oversee all aspects of daily operations, including opening and closing procedures, staffing schedules, and wine tastings.
  • Conduct wine tastings and educate guests on our wines, vineyard practices, and winemaking techniques.
  • Welcome guests warmly, manage waitlists during peak hours, and ensure a seamless flow of visitors through the tasting room.
  • Provide technical support for our POS system and other online platforms used in the Tasting Room.
  • Manage inventory levels and merchandise displays, ensuring products are well-stocked and attractively presented.
  • Handle customer inquiries and resolve issues or complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Collaborate with the management team to develop strategies to enhance guest satisfaction, increase sales, and promote brand awareness.
  • Ensure compliance with all alcohol regulations and safety standards.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a management or leadership role, preferably in the hospitality or wine industry.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team to deliver outstanding customer service.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for sharing knowledge about wine.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, able to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, to accommodate peak business hours and special events.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.

Cash Compensation:

  • Base salary of $22.00 per hour with annual adjustments.
