Aerospace Painter II
Location: Sun Valley, CA
Shift: 10am – 6:30pm
Pay range: $22 - $25 per hour (DOE)
Job Description:
Seeking Painter II to support Paint department. Selected applicant will paint aircraft components in accordance with the component maintenance manual. Read and follow paint diagrams per Component Maintenance Manual (CMM) / Standard Overhaul Practices Manual (SOPM) or other customer specification(s), and requirements. Painter is responsible for inspecting, cleaning, and preparing aircraft components for the prime and paint process. Painter is responsible for inspecting, and cleaning, aircraft components once paint process is complete.
Painter may be assigned to one or more departments depending upon the company needs at the time.
Essential Duties:
This individual has the responsibility and authority to carry out assigned task. May be assigned some or all duties indicated below depending on job progression level.
1. Apply primer and Top coats (finish), including other detail work.
2. Touch up primer and Top coats (finish), including color matching and blending.
3. Lay out paint schemes and design templates.
4. Apply markings to aircraft components using several methods (I.e. stencils).
5. Work from detailed blueprints, sketches, written instructions per the work scope operation(s) to meet O.E.M specification(s), requirements, and configurations.
6. Set up and operate shop equipment, including Paint Booth/Oven controls, spray guns, paint mixers, resistivity meters, micrometer, Thickness Gauge, and or other paint measuring equipment, stencil maker, other general shop equipment, and tools to complete work assignments.
7. Maintain all consumables for paint dept. (i.e., primer(s), paint(s), etc.). Regularly empty and clean the paint booth(s) (I.e. filters, waste material etc.) and all other equipment used in Paint Dept.
8. Improve information on the procedures and tooling in order to streamline the processes.
9. Provide training and guidance to junior or lesser skilled paint personnel.
10. Performs work in both FOD (Foreign Object Debris) critical and FOD sensitive environments, ensures all assemblies and detail parts are free of FOD and non-conformances issues.
11. Check units for compliance with the use of precision measuring equipment. (I.e. wet gauges, micrometer, and scales).
12. Report all non-conformances to Dept. Mgr. /Suprv or corrective action representative.
13. Analyze issues in the application primer(s), Top coats (finish), and be able to provide corrective actions to remedy those issues.
14. Prepare rejection tags noting deviations from specification(s) on dimensions, finishes, material, processes, or quality when required.
15. Follow all safety procedures and reports unsafe conditions to safety officials or Department Manager/Supervisor.
16. Participates and contributes to employee involvement (EI) team meetings and activities.
17. Identifies production inefficiencies and suggests potential improvements to product or process.
18. Responsibility to work with LEAN Manufacturing principles.
19. Performs other duties as required by business needs.
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
2-3 years of Painter Experience Required.
