Location:
127 Public Square - Cleveland, Ohio 44114This position is on the Governance and Corporate Functions team and the attorney will provide legal advice and support enterprise-wide with a particular focus on bank regulatory matters and requirements.
Responsibilities include:
- Advising lines of business and other KeyBank functions on banking laws, regulations, and requirements applicable to National Banks and Bank Holding Companies, including Regulations D, K, W, Y, and YY, the Volcker Rule, lending limits, capital rules, liquidity rules, and resolution planning.
- Providing regulatory advice for new initiatives, product development, corporate strategic investments or partnerships, capital market transactions, and mergers and acquisitions.
- Providing legal guidance to regulatory reporting function and otherwise assisting with regulatory reports as needed.
- Collaborating with compliance and risk partners to advise on laws and regulations.
- Advising on prudential banking matters and on supervisory matters as appropriate.
- Preparing and advising on regulatory filings, including licensing filings and regulatory submissions.
- Developing and maintaining strong collaborative and collegial relationships with clients and Law Group colleagues.
- Partnering with other legal staff on enterprise level operational issues and projects.
- Staying informed of relevant legislation and rulemaking by the Federal Reserve, OCC, FDIC, and other regulators.
- Reviewing and revising regulatory policies and processes.
- Providing legal updates to clients regarding areas of expertise as appropriate.
- Coordinating with outside counsel.
- Developing and maintaining collaborative and collegial relationships with outside attorneys and industry representatives.
- Otherwise performing legal work as necessary to fulfill scope of responsibility.
- Undertaking other special projects as assigned.
Professional Qualifications
7 years of relevant, progressive experience as a practicing lawyer, with several years of experience focusing on banking laws and regulations required
Understanding of the regulatory framework for a super-regional financial services institution required.
Demonstrated ability to perform each essential function with skill, efficiency, and practicality.
Client service focus, including:
- Creative self-starter with ability to develop and implement innovative, flexible, balanced, and practical legal and business solutions.
- Collaborative with others and able to work as part of a team to accomplish goals.
- Ability to anticipate client needs based on understanding of business and regulatory environment.
- Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision and address a variety of legal and business issues.
Good interpersonal and communication skills; ability to facilitate, influence and negotiate at all levels.
Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
Active license to practice law in one or more appropriate jurisdictions.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $125,000 to $175,000 annually depending on job-related factors such as level of experience. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for short-term incentive compensation and deferred incentive compensation subject to individual and company performance.
