### Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team. As a Substance Abuse Counselor, you will play a crucial role in helping individuals overcome addiction and achieve long-term recovery. Your primary responsibility will be to provide counseling and support to clients, develop treatment plans, and monitor progress throughout the recovery process.
### Duties:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to determine the severity of substance abuse and develop personalized treatment plans
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions to address underlying issues contributing to addiction
- Implement evidence-based therapeutic techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and crisis intervention
- Assist clients in developing coping strategies and life skills necessary for maintaining sobriety
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including medical staff and case managers, to ensure holistic care for clients
- Monitor progress and adjust treatment plans as needed based on client's response to therapy
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of client interactions, treatment plans, and progress notes
- Provide education on addiction, relapse prevention, and healthy coping mechanisms to clients and their families
### Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field
- Valid state licensure or certification as a Substance Abuse Counselor (LADC, LCDC, CADC)
- Strong knowledge of substance abuse disorders, behavioral health, and medical terminology
- Experience in case management and coordinating care with other healthcare professionals
- Familiarity with evidence-based therapeutic techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and trauma-informed care for PTSD
- Proficiency in coding systems such as ICD-9 for accurate data collection and reporting
